About

Hello friends,

I am Raj Kapur. I have a passion for Self Improvement and Self Development. Learning about success and achieving success has been my lifelong goal. I believe success is a journey, not a destination. This journey is to be enjoyed at every stage of life.

My passion is helping others in any way I can, be it via knowledge, money or work. Hope my journey can help you achieve your success.

SELF DEVELOPMENT & GROWTH

I was introduced to the Photoreading concept at a seminar in New York City in early 1990’s. Little did I realize that this would lead me down a different path in my life.

The Photoreading concept stated you could read at 25,000 words per minute. It used the whole mind to read and it probed the subconscious mind. This intrigued me to the extent where I took the course and then went on to listen to Paraliminal tapes by Paul Scheele. These are wonderful recordings which talk directly to your sub-conscious mind, I still use these audios on a regular basis.

In the class I met a Doctor from India. We became good friends and I agreed to teach him computers and he taught me TM (Transcendental Meditation). A great way to meditate and learn more about yourself. I had learned Yoga at an ashram in India before I came to United States, I guess the journey into mind body connection started there.

While going through this phase, I got introduced to Hypnosis and how it affected the sub-conscious mind, (also called the unconscious mind). The interest was so great that I not only learned about it, but took the course and became a Certified Hypnotherapist from National Guild of Hypnotists. I still am a certified hypnotherapist but practice this art on myself only.

They say when the student is ready the teacher will appear. I got a lot of teachers in my life, including books and audio at the right time and the meta-physical growth continued.

I purchased the tapes of Anthony Robbins, personal power II after reading his book Unlimited Power. I think that is still one of the best books written. From here I got into NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and my interest kept on growing.

At this point I learned how to create Mind Maps, learned from a book by Tony Buzan on Mind mapping and found that this was an amazing art where all ideas could be put on one page with complete clarity. I mastered this and from then on most of my notes, my speech notes, and my internal controls at job were created by Mind mapping. When they came out with the software of mind mapping it cut my time by more than 75%.

I read Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Andrew Weil, Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Ken Blanchard, Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, Earl Nightingale, W. Clement Stone, Norman Vincent Peale, Stephen Covey, Shakti Gawain and so many others whose writings and thoughts influenced my life in a profound way.

I try to use the resources I have learned to help anyone who comes in my contact as teaching gives me the joy.

My father has had a profound effect on my life. Both my parents have been teachers and helping others and teaching others has been a part of our lives.

Whenever I was stressed my father used to calm me down and told me “This too shall pass”. How powerful these words are, literally life changing. He led a great life without any expectations and was content with what he had. He led a happy life and after his passing there is a void which cannot be filled.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE

As my passion has always been to help, I have worked for Not-for-profit organizations in the finance field and now have over 25 years of experience in this field. Currently I am working as a Chief Financial Officer. I am good at what I do including management, understanding finances and government funding, oversight and taking the organization in the right direction. I take pride in my work.

I have taken organizations which were on the verge of closure to where they are doing great work helping the community at large and making a difference.

Here I get a chance to use my knowledge, not only to enhance the business but to impart knowledge and learn from all my colleagues. When you are working for an organization that is helping over 2000 families on a daily basis and is running various programs for the youth, every day sometime or the other comes up and takes a special challenge to solve.

The thrill to get clean audits, prepare adequate internal controls, manage federal, state, city and private funds keeps me going every day, as I know Finance is the backbone of the organization, if we falter the organization can go down and thousands can lose the services and hundreds will lose their jobs. The ripple effect could be really bad.

BUSINESS LIFE

There has always been this entrepreneur spirit which has led me to have my own business on the side.

I started my first company as a sole proprietor “Advertising Artists”, where I used to design brochures, logos, flyers, marketing plans, business plans for local businesses. With the advent of computers this business started going down as everyone thought they could create their own material on the computers.

I started my second company as a DBA, CompuAce Business Solutions, here I was able to leverage my skills and my computer expertise and team with another company and became a consultant and trainer. I trained at various companies including at Tropicana. Also started my Hypnotherapy consulting business-which did not go too far as I was helping my friends and family free of charge.

I went and tried various MLM (Multi-Level-Marketing) businesses which included Amway, Herbalife, Melaleuca, Inner light and some others. None worked out, giving me valuable lessons.

In mid 1990’s I found a partner who coaxed me and my brother into starting a Ladies dress business, i.e. opening retail shops and selling overstock ladies dresses. I invested $10,000 all on credit cards. We opened up a few stores but by the end of the year the business failed and I was stuck with $50,000 in credit card debt. My brother had quit a nice job to take care of the business. Little did I know that an MBA does not make you street smart and I was swindled out of my money. It still remains as an expensive lesson, from which I learned so much and that developed me. Here again I got hold of a book “The Richest Man in Babylon” and the techniques I learned from there I was able to pay off the debt in few years. I recommend this book to everyone.

Again after a few years of stabilization in early 2000’s I opened up a Web Development and Consulting business with my brothers. This business was in line with my expertise and my passion. I went to India and hired a team of developers and setup this new venture.  started making a great headway and created for several small to medium sized business websites, hosted them and marketed them.

As the Internet competition grew intense, my work as the CFO became quite challenging and the job became very hectic, so going in two direction was not feasible anymore.

We changed the direction of the business and as we had developed many contacts along the way of developing websites, we opened up online stores selling fragrances and beauty products. This business is still going on as a side business. Strange as life goes, ups and downs come, with some exceptional online sales and marketing within four years we were able to cross a million dollar in sales on a business that was started on a shoestring.

Now my passion of Leadership has taken on a new turn and I have opened “Reveal The Leader Within” company. For details you can go to http://www.revealtheleader.com to see all the services that I provide. If I can be of any help please contact me.

I see the life as a Journey. End is same for everyone. It is death. No one has escaped it. When we know that the end is there for all of us, the only thing we have is the Journey. In this journey we meet people, we become friends, help each other, learn from each other and enjoy each other. My goal is to enjoy this journey. This journey has its ups and downs, it has its riches, and it has its downs. So fear not and relentlessly move forward, enjoy each and every day as the day gone is gone for-ever. Life is worth living, find your passion, connect, and enjoy the nature, sunrise, sunset, spring, summer, fall and winter. Each moment can be a defining moment. A breath in could be your last, it just takes a moment, you never know. Make the most of this life as we know it.
